Happy Mother's Day!!!

Finnean and Michael were so sweet to me on Mother's Day! They are always sweet but extra sweet on Sunday. Michael ran out and got donuts from our favorite place and brought home flowers. He said that he wasn't the only dad in line at Hy-Vee for flowers on Sunday morning! Finnean and I got to snuggle in bed to watch Curious George and he of course stole my donut. He has not had a donut ever...but thought it was pretty tasty. He was kind of shaking...i think it had to much sugar!!! I got to take a nap ( i love a good nap!) and then we got ready for church. After church we hit Centro for lunch with Abby and Cory and had a wonderful time. We spent the evening running errands and I got to tuck in the sweetest boy in the world. I forgot to add that somewhere in this fun filled day Finnean turned into a wild man. He was running through Target, knocking things over, just being crazy. It is so funny because it started when we put a new shirt on him that he has never worn before. He was bouncing off the couch, running into things. We took off the shirt and he stopped being crazy. I am not sure that we will wear that shirt again OR we won't give him that much sugar in one day!!
I am so thankful for my boys!!!

Check out his suit. He looked pretty snazzy for church!
(please don't overlook his must have accessory!)

Being silly after he got syrup EVERYWHERE!

What a handsome little man.

Pure happiness. French Toast with tons of syrup, milk and fruit. Please note that he doesn't get syrup at home...so between the donut and lunch...he was on sugar overload!!

peek! look at that little booty!

We sat outside (thankfully they had the heaters on) but it was perfect because Finnean could play and laugh it up while we were chatting after lunch.

Sweet boy!

I am one lucky Momma. Look at how handsome these boys are!

:)

I can't resist this picture. Grandpa and Poppa surprised us with being in the area tonight. Finnean loved reading his book with them. He is really starting to stay Gr-ma and Poppa.

Science Center and Pella Tulip Time

Finnean and Dad took advantage of their day off together on Friday and went to the Science Center. Michael is so excited for Finnean to be able to DO things. I think they will be having a lot of outings this summer. I love that they get to spend those Fridays together.

TULIP TIME!!
Brrrr...it was so cold and rainy too! BUT we got to see each other and had fun looking around Pella. We hope to go next year when it hopefully will be nicer and hopefully will be able to see some TULIPS! Not many left for the actual festival!
Can you find us? Ellie, Carter, Finnean and I with the giant windmill!

Finnean checking out the giant wooden shoes!

Silly boys!

This was right before he busted his nose on the bricks. :(

Taking Mom on a walk. I am not Mama anymore. Finnean says MOM. Very clear!

Finnean was so tired...

This is my favorite picture of the day. I think he actually looks like me here. AMAZING!

We were both tired and grumpy. We were cold, rained on and I didn't get a sweet treat. Well not yet anyway...they all went to the car and dropped me off to stand in line for....

COOKIES!!!!
this is why i stood in line for 20 minutes...YUM! Vander Ploeg Bakery...you must stop in Pella and get some of these! Michael got his dutch letter and we were all happy!

Carter obviously enjoyed a cookie on the way home :)

KC Trip

Last weekend we made a quick trip to KC for Bare Root Designs. Kelcee and Matt braved the 6 hours in the car with our little man...he did such a good job and really didn't get too antsy until we were about 15 minutes from home. This picture below was about that time... This is Finnean with his friends. he loves them!

1st ICUBS game of the season!

This is my favorite picture of the night. He just watched in amazement most of the night!

This is Finnean playing with the statues outside the ICubs stadium.
Look at that belly!!

:)

This is a view from our sweet FREE seats. Thanks Puff and Mel!

We had two extra tickets...so the Blanchards came along.

Grady LOVED giving Finnean fist bumps the whole night. Finnean on the other hand wasn't so sure about that. This is one of the times he did think it was pretty cool!

Look at these BIG BOYS! Don't they look so old?

Of course we couldn't get everyone to look at the camera at the same time but we still had fun!

The Waglers

and again...

A few cute stories from the night...

***Finnean sat through all seven innings cheering on the ICubs on Michael's lap. He watched the plays and cheered when the Cubs threw out a player at first. He really watched the game. He loved it just as much as we thought he would. Grady was the opposite...he explored everything about the stadium...up and down. No matter how different their little personalities are...they are both pretty cute!

***This Grandpa and Grandma couple (not Finnean's Grandma and Grandpa---just random people) sat down behind us with popcorn and peanuts. Finnean immediately turned around to see what they had. He gave them the biggest puppy dog eyes, like we never feed him or give him snacks. It was almost a little embarrassing. They insisted that he eat some of their popcorn. Finally I gave in and he took a couple handfuls...but we have not seen him with those ridiculously big eyes before...what a turkey!

Finnean

Finnean loves to read magazines. He especially loves to look at Dr. Smith and Foster's magazines, it has TONS of dogs in it.

Finnean also loves to watch out the window. Our neighbor dog, Drake, is his favorite thing to watch. He will "bark" out the window at the dog.

Messy BOY! Finnean loves to help cook. This night he played in the flour and then we had homemade chinese it got all over him!!! Then he of course wanted to give his Momma a hug!

The sounds of Finnean

Finnean has really started talking lately. He has added quite a few new words. 'Thank you' being one of the cutest that he says. In this video you can hear him in his own little language and working on his animal sounds!

Finnean loves to...

  • dance. Any music comes on, he starts moving. He sways, bops and even dances like a punk rocker
  • throw. Anything that looks like it could be a ball...he is going to give it a throw.
  • talk. He has turned into quite the little chatter box.
  • imitate. He can copy what you do.
  • recycle. He gets so excited when he puts stuff in the right bin.
  • watch. He loves to watch the trunks go by.
  • play. Jerry and Finnean love to play "fetch."
  • eat. Blackberries are the fav right now. He can really put down the food.
  • ride. He loves to cruise in the Cozy Coupe.
  • read. He would read 50 books before bed if we let him.
  • sleep. He is a great little sleeper!
  • laugh. He is so ticklish under his arms and he makes himself laugh now. It is so sweet!

picture update!

Finnean had his first dental check up on April 9th. He did as good as to be expected...he cried and cried! That was a good thing...the dentist checked all his teeth quickly and they all looked great!

Doesn't he look so big here!? This is first time wearing shorts this year. He loved his shirt...Kim at daycare said all day he pointed at his shirt and said "Ball!"

He loves to climb! This is his attempt at opening the gate.

He is getting really good at opening these. He laughs when they open and gets a little upset when they do not!

Our little monkey!
He was helping me make breakfast here...pancakes of course!!

Finnean loves to read magazines. He is kicking back learning about stuff to do in Des Moines on this day!
Playing with trucks have to be one of the coolest things to do at our house. The only thing that is better...throwing balls around the house.

Trucks!!!!!!!!!

just like dad!

Finnean loves to help clean the house. He wanted to help Michael vacuum the floor so he let him. Finnean loved it so much that he cried and cried when we put up the vacuum. So we got it back out and he "vacuumed" until the battery died! I hope he loves to clean when he gets bigger!

First Trip To Snookies!

Snookies is this wonderful little local ice cream place in Beaverdale. People line up to be the first in line on opening day (April 10th this year) to be the first to get the goodness that they serve up! This is Finnean waiting in line for his FIRST EVER ice cream cone!

First bite...ahhh...it's cold!! It only took a couple bites and then he was all about it!

This is my favorite picture from tonight!

Towards the end he even held it on his own...

His cheesy smile warms up my heart! He was so happy!

He was so big, he even crunched the cone!

Drips, Drips and more drips.
Michael actually got more on his clothes than Finnean got on his!
Silly BOY!
Pure Joy.
(Okay...this is my favorite. )

Last bite.

You have to go to Snookies!

Proud Parent Moment

Finnean LOVES birds and can spot one flying by like a pro. All weekend he has been doing a sign (pinching his fingers together) when a bird would fly by or when he would see one out the window. We thought that his friend at school must have taught him that because we did not. We googled it last night to see what the sign for Bird is and sure enough Finnean has it almost right on. So I asked Kim at daycare today if his friend knows the sign for Bird. The little boy did a sign that is not even close to what Finnean was doing...we have no idea where he learned it from...so the only thing we can come up with...he is a genius!!!!
