Weekend Update!

It has been another great weekend at the Wagler house. Saturday we just relaxed around the house and snuggled Finnean up! Then we headed to the Des Moines Arts Festival to check out some live music. Finnean continues to amaze us---he is such a good little guy when we are out doing something, he just relaxed on Dad's lap and listened to music then played in the grass. Again, he enjoyed looking at the art and watching the people. The weather was beautiful and we just had an awesome evening outside!! Ashlyn and Adam joined us and Finnean really loves hanging out with them! Finnean sat in his stroller like a big boy (without his car seat)...so it was funny to see him just sitting up and looking all around. He is getting so big!!!

This morning we went to church at the downtown Methodist church. We have been wanting to get connected somewhere and this seems like it is a good fit. The church is beautiful and the pastor makes you think. So we are hoping to continue going there and to get involved. Finnean loves to look at the beautiful dome and does a pretty good job being quiet!

We spent the afternoon outside, Finnean was relaxing and watching Momma and Dad work in the yard. I got some flowers planted finally and Michael added some rock to our front yard area. It looks great and now I am just hoping that we can get those flowers to grow!!! We will keep you posted!

Marcia got Finnean this onesie for Easter and I finally got around to taking some pictures in it!! Thank goodness he hasn't started getting anymore teeth or I would have been too late! He never just had one tooth! They both came in around the same time!

He did a great job and even got some breaths in...I am not sure that Cabbage Patch appreciated all the drool...but if it saves your life...I guess it is okay!!

Father's Day Weekend!

We had a great Father's Day weekend! We started the weekend off by heading downtown to the Farmer's Market and walking around the East Village. We came home and hit the pool in Ankeny. It was the first time that Finnean actually enjoyed the water and he loved to splash around and play with his cup and pirate duck. We had to of looked like first time parents-we didn't let the sun touch his skin and loaded up on sun block!! We have to protect that super soft skin!!! On Saturday night Finnean attended his first roof top party at Aunt Abby's and Uncle Cory's (unofficial Aunt and Uncle but just as special!) Finnean loved looking around and meeting new people. They live in a loft downtown and the roof top has a perfect view of downtown DM. What a fun outing!

On Sunday we let Dad sleep in and surprised him with a onesie that Momma had made (pictures to come). We headed to church and then met Grandma and Poppa Wagler in Osky for lunch. We walked around and poked around old buildings, which is one of Dad's fav things to do! We had a great weekend just relaxing and not doing a whole lot---just what we like!!

Tick Boy...

I am sitting at work thinking that the AC will be fixed today and everything is going to be okay...then Marcia calls and needs me to okay Finnean to be seen at the Urgent Care Clinic!! Finnean managed to get a tick in his EAR!!! Marcia couldn't get it out because his little ears are so little...so off to the clinic they went!! After I okayed-she said it came out nice and easy but geez louise. We are ready for the weekend and for eventful stuff to stop happening.

All is well this evening, Finnean is sleeping after a fun trip to the splash park and Michael will be home tomorrow...YEAH!!

Hope the next update is less eventful and full of fun. We are looking forward to celebrating the first Father's Day at our house!!!

crazy, crazy birthday...

So I turned 25 today. and it has been one of the worst days ever!!! it started last night when the air conditioner would not work. of course...Michael is working and i have no idea how to fix it. I called to get it fixed and then cancelled the appointment, because we know handy people. All is well right? No---i get a text from Marcia that Jerry has eaten half of a giant chocolate bar (a chocolate bar that I was looking forward to eating)-so of course I am freaking out and I call the vet. He is acting fine so I don't think that I am going to take him in-until I asked "it is not like he is going to drop dead, will he?" Her answer-"Yes-actually he can." In the mean time, Jerry bit the person (Dan--thank you for coming!!!) coming to fix our AC. Fortunately-he got it to work with his wounded hand...grumpy old Jerry!! I guess if I were being poisoned by chocolate I would be grumpy too!!

So I need to get to the vet-Great now what I am going to do---take hungry Finnean to the vet doctor with me...?! No way...did I mention that I had dinner plans? Well I cancelled them and our friends Ashlyn and Adam came to watch Finnean (THANK YOU!!!) and Marcia stayed late (THANK YOU!!!). Meanwhile I take Jerry-they say that it is lucky we brought him in because he had a really high temp. I wait around and my other wonderful friends, Matt and Kelcee, stopped by to cheer me up (THANK YOU!!!). So after passing time with them, Jerry is finally ready to go and is doing okay. They got all of the chocolate up...thank goodness (not to mention...YUCK!) So we finally made it home and Ashlyn and Adam brought me beautiful flowers!! Yeah for flowers!!

So after the craziest day and I got all the calls made to let everyone know that everyone is fine-I got to snuggle the cutest kid on the block (see picture below) and he went down without a peep...maybe that is my birthday present from him and he let me sleep in this morning!!!

My day turned out okay in the end and it just made me realize yet again how lucky I am to have a wonderful husband (on phone support-not sure how many times I called him today!!), a wonderful babysitter and wonderful friends! I love you all!!

Today we went a park and had a picnic. It was great just to enjoy each other and the beautiful day. We found a Momma Duck and her six little babies. So cute and fun to watch. Finnean like to watch them but was more interested in the people watching!! I am a people watcher too...maybe he gets that from me! We had a great trip to the park!

We have been trying to hang out more in Finnean's room often. He has been struggling to go to sleep some nights and we thought maybe because really the only time we are in his room is when we are going to go to sleep! So here are a few pictures I snapped while we played together today. I think just laying on the floor and him rolling around is one of my favorite things to do!! He rolled back and forth back and forth---probably 20 times!!!

I don't think I ever got these posted. We hit the Principal Charity Golf Classic (early Father's Day outing) at the end of May. Finnean loved watching the golfers and did a great job being quiet! :)

1st Tornado Warning!!

This is Finnean, as Michael and I are running around the house cramming everything we might need into our downstairs bathroom as the sirens are going off and the news is saying there is a tornado south of Polk City (which is NOT very far from where we live). We had some family time in the bathroom, Jerry and all! Finnean thought it was great that we all got to hang out and he got to stay up a little late! It is amazing that we never worried that much about storms until you have someone else to care for, it just changes everything!! Thank goodness- no issues for us from the storm, Bloomfield on the other hand, sounds like it got some major hail!

Finnean turned 6 months last week! It is just completely amazing to think that 6 months ago we were going to the hospital to have him. Each day I am in awe that we have such a beautiful child and he is such a good baby!

Here are some of his many loves: snuggling, playing on the floor, Marcia, Jerry, pulling Jerry's hair, laughing, big toothy smiles, bath time, playing guitar with daddy, snuggling with momma, breast milk (we are still breastfeeding!!), going for walks, music, reading books, having teeth (he has two!), visitors and many more...

...and some of his dislikes: food, getting his hair rinsed out, going to bed some nights, when we leave him on the floor and don't tell him we are going in the other room (even for a second) if you tell him you will be right back-he is okay, sitting in his high chair, taking naps (sometimes), changing tables in public restrooms (i don't like them either!!!), getting teeth, shots, swimming pools...

Things he can do...roll over both ways, wave bye-bye (okay he did it once-but it counts!), sit up all by himself, pick up toys off the ground, transfer a toy from one hand to another, respond to his name, make a sad face, make a happy face, drool, look for toys when he drops them (and Momma and Dad pick them up) and I am sure that I am forgetting many things he can do...


...it is pretty awesome being six months old!

First Veggie!!

What a stinker!!

This was our second night of the sweet potatoes! Got a little bit messy!!

Finnean had his first veggie, sweet potatoes, on June 2nd (1/2 birthday!)! He did not quiet know what to think. He made a silly face and then actually ate some of it mixed with his cereal! He is getting used to his high chair and the whole production but I would not say that he is a good little eater of solids yet, so we just practice each day! He will get the hang of it!!
