Due Date...

As you can see on the blog counter we are at "Zero Days" until Cozmo "hopefully" comes into the world.  Well we know that due dates are just guesses but it is hard not to focus on that day, even just a little.  I am still  carrying around our little human.  We have been having fun together while we wait and it is nice to know that Cozmo will be coming out on Tuesday for sure!!  We can't wait to meet him or her.  "Her" has been to most recent consensus around us...so we will see!!!  Here are a few pictures from our most recent adventures!
Thursday night we headed to the Science Center after supper (they are open til 8 on Thursday...good idea!) to run off some energy.  It has been so warm and we are so close to having the baby that it makes me nervous to take Finnean anywhere by myself.  So as soon as Michael gets home from work, I say...okay what can we do!!  Thankfully he has been a good sport of taking Finnean and me on adventures.  He does worry about me and is so sweet to ask 20 times...are you sure you are okay!?

GO MUSTANGS!
The high school Michael and I went to made it to the State Baseball Tournament for the second straight year.  They played last night and won big!  It was fun to go and cheer them on.  Finnean seemed to have more fun at this game (less people than the ICubs) and loved watching what was going on.  He was not a big fav of the crowd going wild when one of the boys hit a home run.  "Too loud!!"  This is him cheering at the end of the game!

Cozmo and the Big Brother

39 and half weeks!
Cozmo continues to get bigger and bigger.  We can't wait to meet our little person!

Finnean needed a rocking Big Bro shirt to welcome little Cozmo into the world...luckily we know someone who does custom shirts, custom anything really.  Check her out @ http://www.boettcherdesignandcolor.com/  She can paint anything and it looks amazing!!

The back...Finnean thinks the lighting is "awesome!"

Not a very flattering shot of Finnean but too cute not to post.  I was cleaning up the kitchen and he had picked out this book all by himself and was reading away.  He is getting ready and is so excited!!

New camera!!!

We are so excited that we got a new camera....just in time for our new arrival to come.  We thought it was a good time to invest in a great camera to capture all of the adventures of our growing family!
Finnean is excited...can't you tell!!
This boy LOVES peanut butter and jelly...that is what is all over his face!

Cutie pie!

Peanut Butter Banana Muffins

Even though we had a heat index of 105 today, we decided to bake.  We can't go outside since it is so hot, or should I say we have no desire to go outside, so we had to do something!  We had a blast getting messy and ended up with a yummy treat!
Nice and clean before we had to add the peanut butter!

We emptied one of the PB jars and Finnean wanted to lick it.  He attempted to drink out of it, notice the ring around his little face!  Have I mentioned how much he loves peanut butter!!

Then the thought a spoon might get him a little more, at one point he had his whole hand up to mid arm in the jar trying to get more PB out!

What a mess!
We have fun baking together but we are not very good at keeping the kitchen clean!

YUM!

He loves to lick the beaters!

The best part of baking...a super yummy snack for the afternoon!!

Tuesday, July 26th

We had our weekly check up today and thank goodness we had our favorite doctor.  He literally started laughing when he check to see if I was dilated any further...NOPE!  Been at 3 for almost three weeks.  He handled it very well and told me that women would pay to be able to dilate on their own and here I am walking around at a 3.  He said that they would be very jealous of my body's ability.  That still didn't change the fact that we haven't moved along any further.  Michael and I planned to discuss scheduling a date for induction of late next week (if we didn't have some movement today at the appointment) to give Cozmo a chance to come on his own but the doctor said let's do it early next week.  My worry is that maybe my body isn't ready but the doctor is not worried about that at all, just might need a little jump start.  SO---Tuesday the 26th at 6:30am is the day!  It is so nice to have an end date (I know that I will not be pregnant forever but nice to know that there is a date!).

When we were pregnant with Finnean we also had an induction date set.  That evening we went out for one last date night without having to find a babysitter.  We went to PF Chang's and then got ice cream at Cold Stone after walking the mall for a bit.  We thought that we might as well give it a shot and took our little man out on a date.  The food was so yummy and the ice cream was perfect on this super hot day!  It feels like there have been a lot of signs about the baby (I know, I know...you can see signs in anything) but today we had two very big "signs" of our little boy name, saw three double  strollers just like ours and Finnean ran up to the Mercy hospital sign at the mall...hey, I need a little something to keep my going!  So we are still hoping that Little Cozmo will come on his own but we will for sure meet him on Tuesday!  We can't wait!!!
Finnean rocked the chop sticks!  He loved eating with them and did a great job.

YUM!  Finnean didn't care for the lettuce part of the lettuce wraps but the filling he LOVED!

Double yum!

We had such a fun "date night" together.  Love these boys!!

Have Patience...

We have song at our house that goes something like..."Have patience, have patience don't be in such a hurry, it only makes you worry."  I believe there are more words that my friends know but that is all I ever get to.  I sing this multiple times a day and so does Michael.  Finnean even sings it to Jerry.  I wish I was a little better at taking my own advice.  There is no little Wagler to announce but with time...surely this little person will decide he/she wants to come into the world!!  I am guessing my body is just getting ready for delivery with the "practice contractions"-my hope is that all those contractions will make it goes smooth!! Besides the lack of sleep from the anticipation of our new arrival we are doing okay.  Michael was up most of the early morning...I think he is excited too!!  My fingers are swollen but other than that we are just staying cool in the house.  We will NOT be going outside today! We have a check up tomorrow-so we will keep you posted!  Finnean still is voting for a gurrrlll.  What do you think?  Leave us a comment and let us know!

We have this "Book of Answers" that we bought when we were in college, as we were are very indecisive sometimes.  As we have been cleaning out the junk in our house we found it and been asking it if the baby is coming today,? is it a girl? boy? etc.  Today I followed the directions to a tee and asked it if we were going to have the baby today.  It's answer "A substantial effort will be required"  I will take it!!  Let's meet this little one!!  :)

Busy Weekend...

Well.  Still no baby so we decided that we could sit around and do nothing and wonder when the baby is coming out OR we could get out and about and sweat a little.  (IF you don't live in Iowa and are reading this it has been about 95 actual degrees with a crazy amount of humidity-making the heat index about 110 degrees!)  Seems like a great idea to get outside if you are incredibly pregnant right!?  So Saturday we went to Costco and then to the mall for a little walking.  We came home and took naps (a must have at this point in my life) and then headed to the ICubs game to see the "Cubbie bears" as Finnean calls them.  Abby and Cory had free meal tickets-so we had a picnic in the grass with them and enjoyed the beautiful Iowa summer day.  Finnean loved watching the game and liked to pretend to be the catcher.  He squatted down by his seat and would pretend to catch the ball and then throw it back to the pitcher.  Such an imagination!!  Sunday we headed to church and out to lunch (not much motivation to cook when it is super hot and super pregnant!!)  We had a HUGE success at lunch...Finnean went #2 in the potty.  Okay-maybe too much information but this is a huge deal!!! Some kids can't even go at their homes easily and he is rocking it in public!  We are so proud of our little potty boy!!  After naps we headed to "Cy's House" AKA Ames to see our friend Travis.  Finnean loves "Trav" and especially loved his "big, huge, giant motorcycle" that Travis showed Finnean.  He thought that was pretty cool to see it up close!!  After we said good-bye to Ames we hit up the grocery store and then we were all TIRED!!  Except about 10pm I got the urge to put things away, clean up our bedroom, get sheets out for our (hopefully) soon guests.  More nesting I guess.   I was up a couple times in the middle of the night with some strong contractions and then up for good at 5:30 with contractions that have continued to come.  Goodness, I hope this is really going to happen today.  Who knows-could just be false labor.  I just sent Michael off to work and I hoping that he has to come back home to help take care of Finnean due to the contractions getting stronger....a girl can hope right?!  We will be sure to keep you posted of little Cozmo's arrival.  Stay cool!
Finnean and Dad all sweaty after the baseball game!  Goodness it was "muddy" as Finnean calls it but it was fun to get out and do something with friends!

This is Finnean's "WOW! It's hot!" face!  Love these boys.

Finnean is giving a thumbs up due to his awesomeness.  He is such a big boy.  He has been doing great going potty like a big boy.  We are still a little nervous when we go out in public but he continues to amaze us!  He told us at the game (with all that cool stuff going on!!) and went in a public bathroom!!  Michael said it was about 130 degrees in the bathroom with no air movement.  They both came back covered in sweat but we could not have been happier!! He is such a big boy!!!

SPLASH!!

Today we headed to the pool for a little splashing fun.  Finnean had a blast!  He was a very cautious at the "splash park" portion of the pool but then loosened up and as you can see loved to splash around.  He was so fun to watch him get comfortable and really cut loose!  As you can see...Cozmo has not made his/her adventure into the world...hopefully soon!!  The weather forecast is "extreme heat" for the next 7 days.  We are hoping that we are enjoying the comfort of a hospital room for a few of those days!!  Who knows...I will probably be blogging in a week saying we are still hanging in there!! Either way it was awesome to spend time with our big boy Finnean at the pool today!
LOVE his face!!!!

So cool...

38 weeks and counting

Have I mentioned that we are ready to meet our little person?!?!  Well...we are.  I am trying to be patient and know that he or she needs to stay in there and cook...but goodness!!  I want to know if I get to buy pink and ruffle butts or stick with the cute little blue outfits.  Either way I am excited---I just want to know!!  Last week at our appointment everyone checked out great and the heartbeat was at 155 beats per minute and I was dilated to almost a 3.  Unfortunately you can be at a 3 for quite some time so I am  trying not to get my hopes up for this week.  I would be completely fine with anytime. My feet and hands are staying swollen but not too bad.  I feel very achy and just hurt.  I also feel like I only have one pair of pants that fit and three tank tops-so that has become my uniform lately.  Other than that-I am trying not to complain.  Michael said that I am not miserable to be around-so I took that as a compliment!  We are trying to have fun and relax until our little lives are turned upside down by this awesome little person!  I have heard that a change in barometric pressure induces labor...apparently Wednesday is supposed to bring in some low pressure and storms---so let's do it!!  We will keep you posted.

Finnean plays while the parents are away!

Back in June we headed to Minneapolis with Kelcee and Matt while Finnean stayed with Jim and Marcia.  We had a blast and so did he!  They said that he didn't cry once while we were gone and there was lots of laughter!  Thanks Jim and Marcia!!!
Finnean and his giraffe from the Farmer's Market in Ankeny.  I think he is happy!!

A trip to the library-super fun.

YUM!  Finnean talked Jim and Marcia into going to DQ.  Hard to do I am sure :)

We had a blast in Minneapolis with the Murphy's.  It was great to get away and spend time together.  This is us enjoying some yummy cupcakes on our little vacay!
.

Saturday Fun!!

After hitting up the Summerfest Pancake breakfast in Ankeny we headed to the parade! Finnean loved all the fire trucks (as long as they didn't have their sirens on) but most of all like the marching band!!

Sweet!!
This is as excited as he got about the candy.  He just enjoyed sitting and watching the parade go by.

RUN!

They look so much alike it blows my mind sometimes!  Love these boys!

Happy.

I love how serious he can be sometimes.  Sometimes it makes me crazy how serious he is but most of the time it is pretty cute.

That evening we headed up to Ames to see some friends and "Cy's House."  We even found Cy-which was awesome!!!

High Fives for Cy!
Go Cyclones!

37 weeks...

We are officially full-term!  Whoo-hoo!  We cannot wait to meet Cozmo! After some serious back pain last week and swollen feet and hands this weekend.  I am ready for this little person to join the world.  I will be as patient as possible as we wait!  My back is feeling a little better but I am guessing the huge bump on the front of me is not helping it heal.
Send all your positive thoughts our way!

Happy 4th of July

On Sunday we decided to go back to Bloomfield (probably against my doctor's recommendation) to visit with family.  It is always nice to go back and relax.  We were glad we made the trip...now we are not traveling anywhere...until this baby comes!!!
Carter and Finnean "stacking."  Carter has professional stacking cups...Finnean just had to use Grandma's little paper cups :)

Then the boys moved outside for some summer fun.  Sidewalk chalk, shooting hoops, riding bikes, playing baseball-so much fun!

Finnean's favorite part was helping Poppa make homemade ice cream.  Michael said that he listened to every word that Poppa had to say about how to make it!

Our watch dogs.

YUM!  Grandma made red, white and blue cake!!  Finnean ate all the frosting off of it first then picked it up and ate it with his fingers...less messy I guess!

Then we headed home and lit our sparklers.  Finnean seems to like them here but didn't really say a whole lot about them...he just watched in amazement (even though they were terrible sparklers!!)

He just makes me smile and those eye lashes...they just keep getting longer!!

Silly Dad-making Finnean laugh as he put on our fireworks show!

He makes me smile too!

Finnean finally decided that he wanted to hold it...but just one!

Pretty cool stuff.

This is Finnean clapping for my fireworks show that I put on with the sparkler.

Thumbs up to a great long weekend!!
