Coughy, stuffy, grumpy, sneezy, fevery...

Those could all be name of dwarfs but instead they all could be names for Finnean today. He just isn't feeling good. I hate it because it gets my mom guilt going that if I wouldn't have taken him to daycare then he would be healthy and we wouldn't be dealing with this junk!! I know it is good for him to build immunity to things but when those sad, tired, sick eyes look at you...it almost breaks your heart! Finnean was up at 6 and feeling crappy. We attempted to get around but after the constant crying---I am home today and he is already back down for a nap this morning. Maybe I can get some laundry done or make some jewelry while the little bear sleeps! Send your "get better soon energy" our way! We will keep you posted and HOPEFULLY we will posting pictures soon that are rash free and of a healthy little Finnean.

"Helping" Mommy...

This is how Finnean decided to "help" me pack his bag for daycare for in the morning!
*****
By this time in the evening we are both tired, both hungry and both ready to be asleep but I have to wrangle him to get his diaper on (because he would MUCH rather be naked). We got it on after a complete melt down by Mr. Finnean-he really is perfecting his all out scream that the neighbors can probably hear!!! On a positive note I haven't heard a peep from him since...did you hear that???? That was me knocking on wood...because I need a good night's sleep!! Michael comes home tomorrow...THANK GOODNESS!!! Why does stuff always happen when he is gone?????

Rash Boy!!!

Finnean had a little rash developing last night, long story short...we have been to the doctor twice. One time with little to no info received. The second time-went much better and his rash is getting worse...BUT hopefully it will get better...! Apparently it is a viral thing and it should clear up and thankfully it is not contagious. I forgot to mention that Finnean saw the same doc tonight that removed the insect from his ear when he was "Tick Boy" in June!!! He remembered him-that is always nice at a walk in clinic! But the nurse called him a girl "O she has such beautiful eyes!" Come on...am I missing it or just really biased? I don't think he looks like a girl!!! We get that ALL THE TIME!!!
Early this morning...the rash is worse than last night...but nothing like it is going to get...
Tonight...look at how white he is on his little hip and then how red his legs are. The red is the huge rash!

Poor little bootie :(

His little back today after we got home from daycare.

It looks like it hurts!

Update and Playdate...

Update:
We have been so busy the past couple of weeks. Finnean attended his first bridal shower (Laura, a great friend from high school will be getting married in October!). He loved all the ladies and was very well behaved! We have been to dinner with friends and even made it to church this week! It felt good to go back, it had been a while though! We are looking forward to a great weekend and Finnean's first Iowa State Football game! I am sure that it will be an adventure but it will be fun! We will keep you posted and I hope to post more reguraly. I have added many posted in reverse order...so you might want to scroll to the bottom and come back up!
*****
Some of the new things Finnean can do: say DaDa (he says it all the time) it is riduculously cute, blabs about whatever he is thinking, "plays" with Jerry, loves going for walks, started daycare, eating more table foods, pulls up anywhere on anything, can "vroommm" when he is driving his trucks, working on more teeth and has been fussing around (in addition to lack of sleep from the new daycare). Over all it has been a very happy and fun few weeks!
Grandma Sandy and Uncle Tim...Do you remember this chair? I remember it always being at Grandma's House. This was my rocker from when I was a little girl. I haven't given Finnean my blankie from when I was little -it is need of some repair. We might have to call Marcia in on that one! Michael "plans" to refinish this special chair but it hard to find the time when you want to play with the cutest little guy in the world in every spare minute!

Finnean with his little friend Miss Kaia.
She was so nice and shared her comfy couch with Finnean. She also showed him how easy it is to walk around and play with everything! Kaia is getting so big!

Kaia and her parents just moved back to Des Moines and we could not be more excited about it! We love hanging out with them and always have lots of laughs together. We are looking forward to many more play dates in the future!

First Day at Daycare!

9.15.09
*****
Finnean was such a big boy and went to his first day of outside daycare last Tuesday. He was a little timid around the other kids and did NOT take a bottle from the teacher the first but he survived and so did I! I don't have an ill feeling about the center and his teachers are great! He is adjusting more and more each day. He has been boycotting naps, which makes for interesting evenings but he slept more today than yesterday and that is all that matters. His fav teacher, Miss Tonya, was not at school today, so he didn't take his bottle until 1 pm. What a stinker! She has a similar haircut to me and they think that is why he likes her more. All of his teachers really seem to like him and we feel really welcome and safe there. He is warming up to all of them and it feels good to see him smiling at them and playing in his room. He had his first school pictures today! Of course he was not going to smile for the camera lady but Miss Lisa said that she thinks they got a cute little smirk! We will keep you posted of how the adjustment is going!

The longest 24 hours ever...

So I knew that Finnean was going to be starting his new daycare on Monday, 9.14.09 and I was getting a little nervous about it. I felt a little uneasy but I had met with her, asked her all the right questions-she had the right answers and her house seemed safe. But I still felt uneasy, Michael thought it was probably me just not wanting him to go to daycare and we left it at that.

Sunday evening rolls around and I don't feel good at all and I think it is from me not wanting to take him in the morning. So I called the soon to be sitter and asked for the number of the other family that she said that she had lined up to start in a couple weeks, as she told me about them when I visited earlier in the week. I thought if I talked to them, we could discuss our kids, vaccines and just that we were both trusting the most precious thing in the entire world with this person. She called me back and said that she didn't have them coming and they were only coming for a visit in a couple of weeks and hopefully would start after that. YUCK!!! I thought I was going to throw up, I felt like she dishonest with me and how was I supposed to take our little Finnean to someone that I don't have an ounce of trust with. Michael, being the rational one in the marriage, is thinking what in the heck are we going to do if you are not going to take him to this person...it is Sunday at 9 pm!!!! I have the worst headache, feel like I am going to throw up and I forgot to tell you, we are sleeping on an air mattress because we moved EVERYTHING that is on carpet into our kitchen or garage for the carpet cleaners to come at 9 am the next day!!! What a mess!!! So Michael said, lets give it a week. I thought okay-we can do this. It will be fine. Meanwhile, I fall asleep and proceed to miss an amazing game of the Packers beating the Bears (Go Pack, Mel!:)

So, I wake up knowing that I have to take him to a place that I don't want to but what else are we going to do. At 8 am I decide he is not going, I call the sitter, I call my boss, tell her what is going on, thank goodness they are understanding and Finnean and I start searching for a suitable daycare for him to start TOMORROW!!! Mind you, the carpet cleaner is arriving and we can't be in the house until the afternoon. Luckily...after 20 phone calls and the second visit,we stopped at the place that we fell in love with. The director and teachers were awesome, the room was clean, babies weren't sitting in exersaucers, it was wonderful. Of course the most expensive place that we have ever considered but if we are going to spend our money, we should spend it on quality care that we feel good about going to. So I spent the afternoon outside with Finnean (wet carpet) filling out paperwork and Michael somehow managed to move everything back to its original spot after it dried (he is truly amazing-not only for his brut strength but for all of the support he provided while we went thought this crazy time-he didn't once think I was crazy for making a decision that was going to drastically change our plans). To top of the day we took Finnean to get his flu shot! We are supposed to go to Kindermusik on Mondays but we were all so exhausted, I think we were all asleep by 8:15. We made it through a crazy day and everything was going to be okay.

My friend Lori, (some of you may know her as Ed), who I admire dearly for her continuous positive view on life (she handles trips up, a little more calmly than I do :), always tells me that God won't give you something that you can't handle. Thanks Lori!

First Packers Game!!

The Packers had there season opener on 9.13.09. Finnean knew it was a night game so he had to take a nap!

Finnean trying to figure out what Jerry is doing!

He is getting so fast!!!

Finnean didn't even make it up for the game, it was just too late! This is him on his way down to bed!
*****

Finnean had a great day at our friend Matt and Kelcee's house. They watched him while we clean, clean, CLEANED every inch of our house!!! We wiped down walls, cleaned baseboards and scrubbed floors (all of these are much easier when you don't have a little football star crawling all over...thank you Kelcee and Matt!) All of this was in preparation to get our carpets professional cleaned and for the longest day ever...read the above post!

Wedding!

We went Bill and Jessica's wedding after the ISU game. It was held at Jester Park and was beautiful. Jessica is a friend from Ames and she looked amazing! We had a great time with our little date, Finnean. It was the first time we thought we were going to have to leave a place due to Finnean's fussiness but he was just hungrary. So he ate the heck out of some pasta salad (he is trying more table foods) and stuck it out for Momma and Dad to get cake (one of the main reasons we go to weddings...o besides the whole love, marriage, support etc.). Finnean practiced his clapping skills, after each toast he so proudly clapped along with the rest of the people! He was so cute and we had a great time.

9.12.09

Finnean watching Jessica come into the ceremony.

" Don't mess with me or my monkey."

I tried to get a rocking picture of Finnean like this but monkey sits still longer than Finnean!

We are all smiling!! It is a miracle!

Dad and Finnean. They look nothing alike!!!

First Cyclones vs. Hawkeye Game-9.12.09

Stretching out before the game.

Watching the Cyclones turn over the ball a million times...it was terrible.
Finnean is still pretty cute in his little Cyclone shirt that says... "Class of 20??"
We bought this shirt 5 or 6 years ago...before Finnean was ever a thought in our mind AND managed to move it from place to place!

" All that football wears me out! "

9 month check up

I know I haven't posted for a bit...BUT I will try and catch you up! Finnean had his NINE month check up on Sept. 11th. He passed all of his tests and Dr. El-Dadah is not concerned about his weight...he is in the 20th percentile!!! He doesn't seem that little to us...maybe just seems like everyone is just way bigger. Height and head circumference are right on track and the little man couldn't be healthier. Most 9 month olds don't have to get shots but when it is flu season you do! Of course, I didn't even think about that so I scheduled nine month pictures at Target (after the experience...I am not sure that we will ever go back) but what matter most is we got some cute pictures! Anyways, I got sidetracked by the Target scammers. So we asked to post-pone the flu shot until the 14th and it worked out great. We have to get the other half of the dose on the 14th of October. I got my flu shot today and my arm is hurting---I can't imagine how sore his little leg must have been!! But he only cried for 15 seconds and then he was on is way-like nothing happened. Our nine month check was pretty uneventful, which is a good thing!

Zoo Trip!!!

We made a trip to the Blank Park Zoo-along with everyone else in Des Moines. It was busy but beautiful! We enjoyed walking around and we are pumped to be Zoo and Science Center of Iowa members! We got our season pass today and can't wait to make lots of trips to the Science Center this Winter and to the Zoo next Spring and Summer!
Finnean LOVED the fishes! He just looked and looked as the swam by!

Dad and Finnean checking out the giraffes. Finnean loved watching them and "talked" to them a lot! Finnean also loved talking to the goats. He just squealed and babbled at them! Michael would not feed them and I was not about to touch the dirty animals. So next year I guess I will have to suck it up and let Finnean touch them...YUCK!

So intense!

Finnean got a monkey from the gift shop. Which he thinks it is hilarious!
What a big smile!

Snuggling the monkey before we left the Zoo!!
*****
We still don't have a name for the monkey...any suggestions?
*****
My favorite quote of the day..."I can see how kids get spoiled." That was after we got Finnean got a monkey and we got ice cream treats. You can't go to the Zoo without a snack! We can't wait for next year when Finnean is running all over the Zoo. We had a great day at the Blank Park Zoo!

Weekend Fun!

Finnean taking advantage of the wide open room at the Wagler Funeral Home. This was his first time "helping" clean up after a funeral. Gotta start him working sometime!
9.5.09

He looked so little compared to the big room! We stopped over to see Grandma and Poppa on our visit to Bloomfield.
9.5.09

Close up!
9.5.09

We went back to Bloomfield for a wedding this weekend. It was beautiful and great to see tons of old friends. We also go to visit with family and ended our trip by detouring to Williamsburg to get some winter clothes for Mr. Finnean! We love the Carter's Outlet Store!!!
9.5.09

Being silly with Dad!
9.6.09

Finally we caught this face on camera!! Finnean has started sniffing and wrinkling up his little nose. He does it all the time for no reason at all. Sometimes you can do it and he will copy you. It is so incredibly cute!!!
9.6.09

Finnean crawled under here all by himself! We were just hanging out today and he got really quiet and there he was...UNDER the toy. At least it is good for something, he doesn't really like to play in it anymore!
9.6.09

Finnean's sad face!!
9.6.09

Practicing lounging on the couch as football season is upon us! We can't wait for the Packers opener next weekend and to take Finnean to his first ISU game at the end of the month!
9.6.09

He has such a serious face sometimes!
9.3.09

He wasn't very smiley in this photo shoot but still just as cute!
9.3.09

What a BIG BOY!

Nap time...
What a cutie, looking like such a big boy sleeping so soundly!
Little did I know....
That I would find him standing up for the first time in his bed!!!

Bed head!

I think he looks naughty here. He is so cute and sweet but boy do I think we have another thing coming when he can start walking!!!

A rare smiley Finnean while he is getting his diaper changed. He can be so sad and then just start laughing, like belly laughing. It almost makes me cry because it is so cute! This is a great shot of his new teeth! He has started biting my shoulder...OUCH!
9.3.09
On Thursday he started pulling up on everything!! The ottoman, chairs, gates, the wall...anything he can get his little hands on he is trying to stand up! He does a great job and he looks like such a little man when he does it!

9 MONTHS OLD!!!

Finnean is nine months old! It is so crazy how each month just flies by! He continues to grow and grow and get smarter each day! He loves to sing and play with toys. Enjoys talking to Jerry and reading books. Loves taking a bath when Momma does it, when Dad does it, he cries-SO Momma gives lots of baths. Started screaming when you change his diaper, only when Momma does it, so Dad changes a lot of diapers. It all evens out in the end! He squeals and babbles, blows bubbles with his drool. Eats baby food more and more and tries the things on our plate that he can. He would rather drink milk-but we have to keep trying! Still wears size 3 diapers and mostly six month clothes-some nine month stuff. He had NO BOOTY-so it makes it hard to find pants that fit him. Our lives change each day with the new stuff Finnean is doing-it is wonderful and we feel so blessed!!!
All of the pictures below are from 9.2.09.
Going for a ride in the stroller. We got him this ISU hat and he looks SO ADORABLE but he will not keep it on. He likes to throw it out of the stroller on walks!! What a stinker!
"Playing in the Grass."
Finnean still does not like the way grass feels on his soft little skin!

Out to dinner with Momma and Dad!

I just wasn't fast enough to stop him...
since Finnean was born I hate germs even more and it just grosses me out to think of what is on the table! DOUBLE YUCK!

Finnean's First Yogurt!
I think he is saying TRIPLE YUCK!!
