I know we have not been very good at keeping the blog up to date. We are very busy growing here in Ankeny!! At Finn's two week check up he had grown 2.5 inches and weighed in at 9 pounds. He is doing great!! We are amazed at how much he changes each day. He has started growling and his lungs are getting stronger...we think he has realized that he can make himself louder and we respond a lot quicker!!! He also found his thumb for the first time yesterday...not that we want him to suck his thumb but it was pretty cute!!! He is sleeping pretty good and eats well!! Sometimes that is all we do it seems!! Everyone in the household is doing great and we can't wait for our first Christmas with our beautiful little boy!!
This blog is my attempt at documenting this wonderful life that I have been given. It will be full of pictures of adventures, stories of the two growing boys and struggles of a stay at home mom. Enjoy.

Tuesday!!! Welcome Finnean Michael Wagler!
Well Cozmo did not want to wait until Wednesday and decided that Tuesday would work better for his schedule! Finnean Michael Wagler was born at 12:25pm on December 2, 2008. He weighed in at 8lbs 1oz and is 19.5 inches long.
We started feeling contractions at 2:50am and managed coping with them at home until 5:00am. We arrived at the hospital at 6am, my biggest worry was that we were going to get there and they were going to say “o this is just false labor” and send us home. THANKFULLY that was not the case and we were admitted and already dilated to four. The labor itself was relatively smooth, as labors go…before we knew it we were dilated to “9 plus” by 11:30 and were told to push at 11:55. At 12:25pm Finnean made his grand entrance!
After his first round of tests, passed with flying colors, we had our first hours as a family before we went to our next tests in the nursery. Grandmas and Grandpas were the first to arrive to see our new baby boy!
Our hospital stay went very well and allowed us sometime to become acclimated to being parents…although having that nurse call button and a whole team of caregivers assisting us doesn’t exactly give an accurate experience of reality, but still greatly appreciated during the recovery time.
We were able to leave the hospital at 2:00pm Thursday afternoon. It was 26degrees and spitting snow for Finn’s first adventure outside. He fell asleep the minute he got into the car seat and slept all the way home. Now on Friday, we have lived through our first (I am sure of many) sleepless nights shushing, feeding, changing diapers, swaying our way through the house and sneaking in a few minutes of sleep here and there. Our one true wild card was how “big brother” Jerry would take to the new addition to his kingdom. But no worries at all, Travis and Tom brought Jerry down last night and since, Jerry has become Mom and Dad's little helper during feedings, snuggles and even during crying spells. Jerry is going to make a perfect, four-legged, bearded, furry big brother.
We are so excited to be home and so grateful that everything has gone so smoothly to this point. Michael and I have again realized that we make a very good team, which makes all of this so much fun!
Top Three Questions (and our responses) during the last few days…
3. Finnean, is that a family name? – No, we came across the name during our search and love it! But, Michael happens to be Dad’s name as well as Grandpa Wagler’s and Grandpa Reyes’ middle names.
2. Were you surprised he was a boy? Of course we were surprised! Although Courtney had felt for a while that Cozmo was a boy.
1. Finnean…how do you spell that? F-I-N-N-E-A-N…Finnean.
Stay tuned for more as Finnean, Mom, Dad and Jerry continue our adventures throughout the year!

WEDNESDAY!!!
Well...Cozmo has been getting his/her fair share of attention this weekend. On Friday night and Saturday morning-Cozmo was not moving around at all like it's normal little self...so we called the doctor and they had us come in. They hooked us up and everything checked out, did another ultrasound and then other test and all came back great! 7 hours later we came home. Cozmo passed all the tests with flying colors...but they wanted to just check us out first this this morning. So more tests and another ultrasound and everything looks great...and the best news we are going to parents...THIS WEEK!!!
Since everything looks healthy and baby is doing great-they will induce me on Wednesday morning at 6 am. SO...it is really going to happen!!! We are very excited and we are hoping to get some rest tonight and tomorrow night!!! We are hoping that Cozmo just decided that she/he wants to come on it's own but we can wait until Wednesday. So keep us in your thoughts and prayers early Wednesday morning.
We will keep you posted!!!

No Thanksgiving baby...
After lots of family here all day for dinner we were hoping that might be enough to get Comzo going...but as for 7:33 pm he/she has not made any movement towards the grand entrance. SO we will continue to be patient and thankful that baby is so healthy that it wants to cook a little longer! We are thankful that most of family could be together!
When we went to the doctor on Monday she said we were dilated to a 2 and thought that baby could really come in the next few days. We are wishing that she would not have told us that because that makes us even more anxious!! We are just so ready to meet this little person!!! Keep us in your thoughts and we will keep you posted!!!

False Alarm...
So I thought my water broke on Tuesday...like I know what that is like!! Of course we called the doctor and he had us come in and the have to admit you to the hospital, just in case I guess...then some hooking up and checking...and NOPE! So it was a false alarm and we are stilling patiently waiting for Cozmo to say it's time to go!!
Cozmo attended his/her first concert at the Val Air last night. The Dropkick Murphy's rocked and Cozmo loved them!! We were hoping that being out and about would make Cozmo come...but no luck...!!!
If you can't tell, we are getting a little impatient!! We will keep you posted! We are hoping this weekend!!!

2 weeks until "due date"
Yes...we are getting closer!!! Our days are spent wondering what else can we do to get ready for this tiny little miracle and most of all...WHEN ARE YOU COMING!?!?! The weekend was fun filled with more mom, dad and jerry time around the house putting finishing touches on the room. We completed our art project for Cozmo's room and hung some pictures...so now all we need is a baby!! We got the pack and play (Cozmo's sleeping arrangements for a while) this weekend and Dad figured out how to pack and unpack it!! We are ready...well as ready as we can be!
We went to the doctor today and she said that from a "health" stand point things could not be better. I am healthy, baby is healthy and a good size, the heart sounded great. She is hoping that baby comes in the next two weeks but they will not let me go past 41 weeks...which means in at least THREE WEEKS we will have a baby and Cozmo will finally get a real name! Right now I am 80% effaced, which is movement from last week...so keep your fingers crossed that Cozmo comes on his/her own terms, as I am not really wanting to be induced. Still dilated to 1 and that can be like that for a long time, so nothing to get my hopes up about BUT there is movement!!!! And this momma needs some encouragement.
My nights continue to be full of trips to the bathroom and stints of sleep that only last about an hour at a time. So hopefully...I can get some rest before Cozmo comes. Who knows...but I am sure that I will make it! Again- Michael has been so supportive and wonderful, Cozmo and I are so blessed--but I think he is so ready for Cozmo to come too!!
Keep us in your thoughts and we will keep you posted!
TOP THINGS NOT TO SAY TO A VERY PREGNANT LADY (mostly heard at work):
-Oh, your still here?
-You haven't had that baby yet?
-You are looking bigger every day!
-When is that baby coming?
Wish I had a good response to these...but I just keep smiling :)

pictures!
Cozmo looks an awful lot like Ellie's cabbage patch doll...and Jerry is not quite sure what to think. Changing table...finally finished!! It looks great in the room!! We love it.
Dad practicing going for walks with the new stroller that he put together!

37 and counting...
We had a fun filled weekend getting Cozmo's room ready! With the help of "Uncle Travis" we got the chair to our house on Saturday...after it not fitting in the Vibe by about 1.5 inches...Michael and the people at Babies R Us tried to will it in there...but it just didn't work!! But we got it and it looks great!! We got lots of little baby cloths washed and ready to go. It is so hard to fold and organize things that you have no idea where it is going to needed the most! We had a lot of fun getting stuff organized to the best of our ability!! The missing parts for the changing table came today in the mail...that is a great relief!!! We just a few more finishing touches to put on the room and get a few more things for when Cozmo comes home and we are set!! Well, as set as we can be for something that we don't know exactly what we are going to need!
We went to the doctor today and our weekly check turned into a four hour adventure. Cozmo was not moving around as much on Monday and Tuesday so we let the doctor know today. They checked us (no movement in the area of moving towards labor since last week) and then hooked us up to a non-stress test machine. Apparently Cozmo's heart rate was dropping every few minutes so they sent us to the hospital for further monitoring. We got hooked up again for more than an hour to make sure that everything was going okay. Cozmo didn't seem to mind as he or she just kicked around why we waited. They wanted to do an ultrasound to make sure that baby was moving around and see the fetal breathing. Everything checked out great and it was so neat to see all the little parts of the baby. We held strong and made sure we looked away when she got close to the little girl or little boy parts! We waited this long and we didn't want to find out a couple weeks before Cozmo came into the world!! She said everything looks great, we could see the hair floating in the amniotic fluid (lots of it she said), we could see little tiny toes and fingers. The ultra sound lady said Cozmo has short little arms! We just can't wait to see what he/she looks like in person! Then she saved the best for last...she got a great shot of Cozmo's face and put it into 3D. We have attached the picture and it is amazing the little tiny eyes, nose and mouth...they look just perfect!! Cozmo has little chubby cheeks!! She estimated Cozmo at 7.5 lbs but it could be off one lb. either way...but at least it is a healthy size.
It was not the best of reasons to go to the hospital but it makes us feel so much better knowing that Cozmo is doing okay in there. It also makes me feel better, I was getting very anxious about baby this week but have realized that it is probably not the case!! We will keep you posted!!

Photo shoot!
Please check out Julie's website...she was awesome to work with and took great pictures!! She is so relaxed and really captured what we were looking for. http://www.landryannadesigns.com/ There are more pictures on my facebook---so check it out!
36 weeks!
Another great visit to the doctor today. He said that baby is doing good, heart beat is great and that an active baby means that Cozmo is getting enough oxygen and groceries (which is not an issue...i am hungry!!) We will continue to go back each week now for check ups. The doctor reported that the baby's head is down in a good position! Hopefully that means that little Cozmo will join us in the next couple of weeks!! We will keep you posted!

Cozmo loves to shop!!
We went on a mini-shopping spree this weekend and got the stroller/car seat combo. It was pretty easy to put together, which is always a bonus. Now...the changing table is a different story. We woke up Saturday morning so excited to out it together and Michael took out all the parts (all 47 parts) and it did not have any hardware or instructions...making it very difficult to put together. HOPEFULLY Babies R Us will get the parts to us soon...we are anxious to put it together!! Then we will have one more piece to the baby's room completed!
We had family/pregnancy pictures today...it was a lot of fun and we will hopefully have some of them posted soon. Stay tuned for lots of updates as we start going to the doctor weekly now. It hit us this weekend that we could have a baby really any time!!! We are so excited and ready for Cozmo to join us!!
Hopefully we will have some pics up soon...the uploader isn't working today!!

BABY SHOWER!!
Cozmo had his/her first baby shower last night. It was so much fun to have so many friends in one room!! Having stuff to put in Cozmo's room makes it seem even more real that it will be here before we know it! Special thanks to Abby and Chelsie (Abby in brown/Chelsie in green in above pic) for all of their organizing!! and thanks to everyone who came!!! I had a blast and so did Cozmo!! One of the most interesting things from the shower: Kaitlyn Swaim had the same cravings with her little Kaia, chocolate cupcakes with white frosting and salt...especially bacon...SO maybe that means Cozmo is a girl?! who knows...we just keep guessing!!
We went to the doctor today for our regular check up. 34 weeks and 3 days along. Baby bump is measuring right on, overall weight gain is good and Cozmo's heartbeat was 145 beats per minute. So all is well-which is such a great feeling. We go back in two weeks and then we go EVERY WEEK!! That means it is getting closer and closer!
This weekend Grandma and Grandpa Thordarson are coming for an ISU football game and Cozmo is looking forward to that...otherwise we have been trying to lay low and soak up the peace and quiet as we know that will be changing soon :) but can't wait for Cozmo to be here! We continue to work on the nursery and try to get as many things in line as possible!!
We went to the pumpkin patch with Ellie and Carter and this was Daddy's attempt at having a baby bump... doesn't quite compare to mine...we had so much fun and it was a beautiful day to hunt for the perfect pumpkin!!

Well the 3rd trimester fatigue has set in. I feel like I am back to being 8 weeks pregnant and just getting out of bed in the morning makes me tired. So I am working on conserving energy...thankfully for Michael he does a great job cooking and cleaning-so Cozmo and I get fed and we have clean clothes to wear! Cozmo is moving around more than ever. We love to just sit and watch him/her move around...I spend a lot of time wondering what is going on in there! Cozmo is also working on making his lungs stronger by having the hiccups ALL THE TIME!!! It makes me crazy because it is this tapping in my lower belly that never stops! But I am thankful that the lungs are working :)
We started prenatal classes and it seems to be pretty informative without scaring us to death. 5 more weeks and we will be full-term and done with prenatal classes...it is hard to believe. I have continued to have contractions but not enough in an hour to send us to the hospital (5 in one hour), Cozmo likes to cut it close and have as many as possible without going!!!
We go to the doctor again next week, so until then...I added a picture of "pre-bump" (4.19.08) and then currently (9.27.08). I is amazing how much the body changes...without any help from me!! The funny thing about it, I felt like I had a "belly" at that time and people should have known I was pregnant...seems a bit ridiculous now!! It blows our mind how big my belly and the baby is getting. But I love it!!!

Another doctors visit...all is good
We had our week 31 doctor's appointment today. Cozmo and I are doing very well. I am starting to feel some contractions, so my body is beginning to get ready for the big day. We will start going to the doctor every two weeks--so that means it is getting closer to the big day!! We start birthing classes on Sunday!
More scientific evidence for those wondering Cozmo's sex...we attended Achlie Reyes' wedding this week and from hip width and belly height inspection by the Reyes side of the family, Cosmo is a girl. Lately, Michael and I have been thinking boy...but in the end we are hoping for 10 toes, 10 fingers (8 fingers and 2 thumbs if your picky) and a good bill of health.
We finally got around to taking some pictures of the nursery progress. Still a work in progress but getting there. Lots of brown and sage green. It is hard nto think a tiny little baby will be going in that beautiful crib soon!!!

10 weeks to go!
It is amazing to think that 30 weeks have passed by already!! Cozmo is getting bigger and bigger everyday. Which means my belly is getting bigger and bigger. He or she loves to move around and is getting really strong...the way he or she kicks-I am starting to think that it is going to come out a bodybuilder or something!! Cozmo also loves to read
Nursery preparing is in full swing. We have spent the last couple weekends picking out and hanging up curtains, organizing and re-organizing, we have been working on a couple of art projects for the room, we made a crib skirt (which was a feat in itself) but everything is looking great and it is really starting to take shape!!! The hope would be to get some pictures up so you all can see the progress!!!
until next time...we will have more dr. updates. we have our next check up on Tuesday!

28 Weeks Down
We had our 28 week doctors appointment today and everything went great! All is well with mommy, Cosmo...and yes even daddy is doing good. [side note: Cosmo is what we named Baby Wagler before he or she is born...it is our alternative to calling our little one "it" or "he/she"...cheesy but affective...and not to mention a good match to our Little Jerry Seinfeld already at home]
For those of your trying to guess if Cosmo is a boy or a girl, our latest heart rate was 130...in the words of our doctor "you can put that number in your Ouija Board and see what you come up with..."
The baby's room is still coming along. Construction season has officially started at the Wagler house. Michael is busy painting, putting together furniture, organizing closets and even refinishing a couple of pieces of furniture for Cosmo's room. Stay tuned for pictures...
Cosmo has been to a couple of ISU football games and is a fan already! He/she kicked around for most of the games!! We have attached a picture of mommy's growing belly and daddy's too!!! Everyone has a lot of fun comparing my growing belly to their's...the catch...mine has a baby in it!!! Go Cyclones!!

Week 26
I am amazed at how fast the time goes by when you are measuring life in weeks!! The past few weeks have been filled with unknowns. Maybe calls and trips to the doctor of not know what is "normal" and then come to find out that everyone's "normal" is different!!! Luckily, we have a wonderful group of doctor's that answer all of our questions!!!
My belly is quickly expanding and it feels like it grows inches everyday!!! There is no hiding or question that I am pregnant!!! FINALLY...after all of the "NO WAYS!! and "I can't believe that your pregnants"...it is a nice change of pace. I have started to feel more pregnant...harder to move around and it has only begun I am sure!!
Baby Wagler is moving all over and it is the most amazing thing ever!!! My brain can hardly wrap around the fact that I can feel and see it moving all the time. Michael has been able to feel and see it as well, which is so neat!! That little person in there is STRONG!!!
Two weeks ago we had our ultra sound and did not find out what we were having...it put us to the test...but we opted not to find out! Which makes the wait even more exciting!! As far as we could tell everything looked great. Michael laughed through the thing because he could not believe that the tech knew what she was looking at!! But we did see Baby Wagler sucking on his/her fingers and he/she gave us a great big yawn!!! So amazing!!!
Last but not least, Big Canine Brother Jerry has been preparing for Baby by going to "school" to learn some manners and to be a good dog and believe it or not...he graduated!!! We were so proud!!! This is the first of many graduations to come in our lives!
Welcome!!
We got this great idea from our friends who just had a beautiful baby girl, Kaia Mae and thought it would be a great way to keep all of our family and friends up to date! This is our first time blogging...so hang in there with us as we attempt to keep it up to date!
