Happy Birthday, Hutchinson Reyes Wagler

O my, our sweet Hutchinson is TWO! Two whole years.  How is it even possible?  I guess when you are having this much fun, time really does fly by.  This little man is one of the happiest kids I have ever met.  He really doesn't fuss about much.  He doesn't have that HUGE smile that Finnean does but is just genuinely a happy little guy.   He has a great love of "whee-oh-wees" AKA fire trucks, ambulances and police cars.  If he hears one, he stops what he is doing and listens for it...and if we are inside, then he RUNS for the window to see if he can catch a glimpse.  He loves anything with wheels really.  You can usually find him with a car or two in tiny little baby fat hands, zooming them around.  If he isn't playing cars he is building Legos.  The boy is some sort of Lego genius (sure-I am not biased AT ALL!) and can stack for days.  He builds all kinds of neat stuff, usually stuff to go with his cars that he is playing with.  If he isn't playing cars or Legos, you can find him reading a book.  His favs right now are My Truck is Stuck and If You Give a Cat a Cupcake.  He loves trucks and he loves cupcakes...seems like a man who knows what he likes!  And if you don't find him doing any of the things listed above, you can almost bet the farm that he is following around his big brother, doing exactly whatever he is doing.

Oh how Hutchinson loves his brother.  You can see his little brain working when he is watching Finnean..."now how can I do that!?"  He is a master at imitating Finnean and picks up on what Finnean says quite often.  We are TRYING to remind Finnean that this is just ANOTHER reason of why we need to be polite and respectful!  :)  They play together very nicely for the most part but obviously have their differences of opinions!  I am working on letting them work it out on their own.  I have to remind myself that Hutchinson is not a baby anymore and he needs to work things out without his momma.  They love to make up games together, play super heros, make tents, be animals, play outside, get dirty and just do about anything together.  Hutchinson has a lot more confidence when Finnean is around.  They have so much fun together and I think that little H will miss Finnean when he goes back to preschool in the fall.

Even though our "baby" is the big two, he just seems so little.  We found out at his well-baby check today that he is indeed a little guy!   He weighs just 22.2 pounds with his clothes on.  He weighed 21.7 at his 18 month appointment but he was naked...so we are thinking that he didn't really gain any weight!  He is now 33 inches tall.  I am not quite sure how much he grew in height.  Thankfully, our doctor is not worried about him and his skinny pants.  He assured us that Hutchinson is a healthy little boy.  We are just going to keep our eye on him and make sure he eats!!!  Feeding him.  Hmmm, probably my least favorite part of parenting.  You just never know what he is going to eat or how much.  He recent favorite is spaghetti with sauce.  He consistently eats grapes and apples.  Everything else is a crapshoot.  Oh and peanut butter.  He eats anything if you put peanut butter on it!

Hutchinson's vocabulary is exploding.  It is SO fun to listen him talk.  He does a LOT of jibber-jabbering and we really have no idea of what he is saying, but we do know that it is cute!  He can make all kinds of sounds and pretty much repeat anything that you say.  He can ask for things that he wants.  "BoBo milk?"  Means more milk.  I am not quite sure why he says BoBo for more, but as long as we know what he is saying...I am going to go with it! He can tell you a few body parts and show you where almost all of them are.  The cutest is the way he says knee.  Just makes my heart happy to hear his little voice.  FiFi AKA Finnean is probably his most used word.  He is always wondering where he is or what he is doing.   Flag is probably up there with most used words as well.  Hutchinson is still obsessed with flags.  We are not sure why but he LOVES them.  It is so cute and he can spot a flag from a mile away.  Okay, Momma is his most used word.  Remember when I was disheartened that he wouldn't say my name...even at 18 months old.  Well, he is making up for it now.  He is ALWAYS saying it.  In the car, at dinner, while he is playing.  O my.  It is very trying on my old ears but at least he can say it...right!?  :)  The other super cute thing he says is "where's dada?"  He usally says it right when he wakes up and Michael is at work. When I tell him that, he acts like, oh yeah-I knew that!  It is so cute and he has a great love for his Daddy.  Hutchinson can identify most of the alphabet and knows the sounds they make.  Thanks to The Letter Factor movie, he knows those.  It is so cute and he loves identifying letters when we are out and about.  He is currently into singing songs lately.  Wheels on the Bus (or Tee as he calls it) and Itsy Bitsy Spider are on the request list quite often.  It is fun to hear him sing along and for him to ask you to sing out of the blue.  It is just amazing how much his little brain knows and how much fun it is to be with him as he is learning new things.  It is definitely one of my favorite parts of my job.

We feel so lucky to have such a sweet little boy as our baby.  Hutchinson brings so much joy to our house and we just can't get enough of him.  We are so thankful that he is so happy and healthy.  Here's to another fun-filled year of adventure!

Here are a few pictures from a mini-photo shoot that we did downtown last weekend.  Again, I am not biased at all but I think he is so cute (and grown up)!

On Hutchinson's actual birthday (pictures below), we had a quiet day at home (because he had a 103* temp) and celebrated with some tiny cupcakes and ice cream.  One of his favorite (and the cutest) sayings is YUM YUM CUPCAKE!  It really applies to anything that he likes but it is really exciting when he gets a cupcake!

Party Time!!

The theme for the party was an easy choice...FLAGS!  Hutchinson is just so darn obsessed with flags, it made for fun party décor.  We still don't know why he started liking them but it is so cute that he does.  Leading up to the party he kept saying...flag cake?! Every time we would talk about his birthday he would say it...so cute!  We almost didn't have the party.  These boys like to make me worry and stress.  Two days before his party H started up with a 103* fever and it just wouldn't break.  He didn't have any other symptoms.  We sent a warning text to our party guests to let them know that they may or may not be exposed to some germs but hoped they would still come.  He woke up on Saturday and still had a fever but didn't act sick-party on.  Finnean was so excited and bounced around all morning, pumped for the party.  Out of no where Finnean got really lethargic and said his head hurt really bad, so we sent him down for nap and didn't think much of it.  He woke up and threw up...at 2:45.  The party was at 4pm.  NOW WHAT WERE WE SUPPOSED TO DO!?  We had food for 40 people and a shelter rented!!  After a few moments of crying (by me, of course), we decided to keep the party on and Kelcee volunteered to stay with Finnean.  He was out on the couch and didn't get sick again but definitely had something going on.  So that was the long story of our eventful party day.

Once we got to the party, it went off without a hitch.  Hutchinson was a bit timid without his big brother there to show him what to do but quickly fell into the role of birthday boy.  He enjoyed birthday treats and opening presents.  He didn't really say a peep while we were there but was his happy little self.  We are so blessed to have some many people love us and our boys.  We had so much fun and are so thankful that the party worked out.  We loved celebrating our little Hutchinson!
